SPRINGFIELD (May 24, 2007) At its Annual Awards Program on May 24, 2007, held at Illini Country Club, the Capital Area Association of REALTORS® (CAAR) presented a check for $10,000.00 to the Helping Hands Shelter of Springfield.
CAAR President Peter Steward and CAAR Community Service Committee Chairman Kaye Brittin made the check presentation to Brenda Johnson and Brad Guffey who were representing Helping Hands Shelter. The purpose of the Helping Hands Shelter is “ . . .to shelter the homeless, provide support, promote independence and work with others in the prevention of homelessness in the community.” CAAR President Peter Steward says that the issue of homelessness is certainly near and dear to our heart. “Anything we can do to help alleviate this problem we are happy to,” said Steward.
Each year the Community Service Committee of CAAR identifies one primary organization to be the benefactor of its charitable efforts. This year’s Committee chose Helping Hands of Springfield as the recipient of these efforts. “Previous other benefactors have included the Iles House Foundation, Habitat for Humanity and Springfield Green”, said Steward.
CAAR would like to thank and acknowledge all of those individuals and businesses that contributed to this event.
The Capital Area Association of REALTORS® is the Voice for Real Estate in the Capital Area representing more than 700 members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industry.
